Brem is looking for a positive, proactive, detail-oriented candidate with great communication skills and a can-do spirit. The Associate should be a self-starter with strong writing and editing abilities, who enjoys a small team environment and space for creativity. Added bonus for a candidate with a passion for breast cancer, an entrepreneurial spirit, graphic design skills, an interest in marketing and social media, and event coordination.

The Brem Foundation Associate will work closely with the Director of Development, Director of Strategy and Programming, and Executive Director to further our mission of maximizing women’s chances of finding curable breast cancer through expert education about early detection, access to diagnostic tests, and physician training. The Associate will be responsible for:

Programming    

● Help create a strategy for maximizing Brem Foundation’s presence and influence in key communities throughout DC area

● Conduct daily news search for early detection coverage

● Identify employers who are receptive to including breast cancer education and early diagnostic resources into corporate employee wellness programs

● Collect and analyze data on effectiveness of educational programming

● Oversee and manage bi-monthly newsletter, social posts, and campaigns

● Prepare for, and attend, meetings with nonprofit partners, corporations, donors, medical advisors, and community leaders and members

● Update and maintain website with relevant news, upcoming events, and breast health information

● Research key topics in early detection including risk reduction, diagnostic technologies, mammography guidelines, and insurance coverage

● Assist with drafting op-eds and Letters to the Editor for publication in key media outlets regarding breast cancer risk factors and early detection

● Help develop and launch new digital education program

● Coordinate and manage educational events

● Create and develop new program initiatives (e.g. screening pledge, breast health cards, etc)

● Support unique bra-collection program

Development

● Research current and potential donors

● Acknowledge gifts

● Manage donor database and CRM

● Communicate with key donors about commitment and interest

● Prepare for, and attend, meetings with key donors

● Represent Brem at all fundraising events

● Assist with managing and coordinating events

● Manage all in-house mailings

● Recruit and oversee volunteers

● Prep Directors for fundraising in-person efforts

● Research relevant grant opportunities and make recommendations to team

● Draft, edit, and manage grant timelines and submissions

● Assist with annual report research, drafting, and design

Operations

● Recruit, train, and manage interns

● Recruit, train, and manage volunteers

● Work with accounting/bookkeeping on necessary filings and procedures

● Build volunteer system

● Operate as first-line of communication for the Brem Foundation

● Manage inventory of collateral & office supplies

Summer 2019 Internship

Position Description: The Brem Foundation is seeking motivated and responsible interns for the Summer of 2019, to contribute to fundraising and programming initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Director of Development and Director of Strategy and Programming to take on the following projects:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Event support for development fundraisers

  • Support social media and website updates by creating engaging content

  • Research and submit articles on key facts and issues about breast cancer in DC

  • Support bi-monthly newsletter

  • Process and acknowledge gifts

  • Support the management of the donor database

  • Research potential opportunities with media sponsors and partners

  • Represent the Brem Foundation professionally at fundraising and educational events

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision in an efficient manner

  • Willingness to take initiative with creative ideas

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and fluctuating environment

  • Proficiency in social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Field of study and skills: Communications, PR, Marketing, or similar

  • Passion and understanding of Brem’s mission


Hours are flexible, but the intern is expected to work 15-20 hours/wk. Internship can be done for academic credit.

Graphic Design Intern

Position Description: The Brem Foundation is seeking a motivated and creative Graphic Design Intern for the Spring 2019 semester to support a wide range of marketing efforts to tell the story of the organization’s work and community and to increase engagement with new and existing audiences. The intern will work closely with the Director of Strategy and Programming on projects including digital strategy, graphic design of online and print materials, and campaign creation. The ideal candidate is self-directed and has the ability to think creatively about long and short term goals. The Director of Strategy and Programming is committed to mentoring and including the intern in diverse projects and opportunities, including marketing and communications strategy, development of programming goals and execution, and interfacing with partners, donors and community members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft marketing and graphic images for social media, website, and print materials

  • Organize digital assets library including photos, videos, logos, and files

  • Actively engage in program and fundraising events to capture photos and videos from participants

  • Assist with administrative tasks including updating digital signage, printing and distributing flyers, and supporting set-up and breakdown of key programmatic events and other duties as assigned

  • Represent the Brem Foundation professionally at meetings, fundraisers and educational events

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to remain organized and thrive in a fast-paced and fluctuating environment

  • Experience with web design a plus but not required

  • Experience with graphic design programs

  • Field of study: Graphic Art and Communications, PR or Marketing

  • Willingness and enthusiasm to take initiative with little supervision or direction

  • Superior organization skills

  • Passion and understanding for Brem’s mission
