Spring 2019 Internship

Position Description: The Brem Foundation is seeking a motivated and responsible intern for the Spring 2019 semester to contribute to fundraising and programming initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Director of Development, Manager of Development and Operations, and Director of Strategy and Programming to take on the following projects:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Event support for development fundraisers this spring

  • Support social media and website updates  by creating engaging content

  • Research and submit articles on key facts and issues about breast cancer in DC

  • Support bi-monthly newsletter

  • Data entry and gift processing

  • Support the management of the donor database

  • Research potential opportunities with media sponsors and partners

  • Represent the Brem Foundation professionally at fundraising and educational events

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision in an efficient manner

  • Willingness to take initiative with creative ideas

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and fluctuating environment

  • Proficiency in social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Field of study and skills: Communications, PR, Marketing, or similar

  • Passion and understanding of Brem’s mission


Hours are flexible, but the intern is expected to work 15-20 hours/wk. Internship can be done for academic credit.

Graphic Design Intern

Position Description: The Brem Foundation is seeking a motivated and creative Graphic Design Intern for the Spring 2019 semester to support a wide range of marketing efforts to tell the story of the organization’s work and community and to increase engagement with new and existing audiences. The intern will work closely with the Director of Strategy and Programming on projects including digital strategy, graphic design of online and print materials, and campaign creation. The ideal candidate is self-directed and has the ability to think creatively about long and short term goals. The Director of Strategy and Programming is committed to mentoring and including the intern in diverse projects and opportunities, including marketing and communications strategy, development of programming goals and execution, and interfacing with partners, donors and community members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft marketing and graphic images for social media, website, and print materials

  • Organize digital assets library including photos, videos, logos, and files

  • Actively engage in program and fundraising events to capture photos and videos from participants

  • Assist with administrative tasks including updating digital signage, printing and distributing flyers, and supporting set-up and breakdown of key programmatic events and other duties as assigned

  • Represent the Brem Foundation professionally at meetings, fundraisers and educational events

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to remain organized and thrive in a fast-paced and fluctuating environment

  • Experience with web design a plus but not required

  • Experience with graphic design programs

  • Field of study: Graphic Art and Communications, PR or Marketing

  • Willingness and enthusiasm to take initiative with little supervision or direction

  • Superior organization skills

  • Passion and understanding for Brem’s mission
